CAREER  IN  POLITICS

Politics is not a career for everyone. It requires many different skills, some of which are natural and others that need to be practiced over and over again. It is an extremely broad career. There are thousands of jobs offered in the arena of politics. Some roles are of high power and prestige and others being small roles played within a community.

Many politicians worked diligently to get where they are now. You need to be determined and able to take criticism because politics come with a lot of rejection.

Following are some useful advices you can consider for entering into politics:-

1) GO  TO  COLLEGE

While you don’t need any degree, it does help tremendously when trying to run a public office. Most people want a well-educated person so they can make wise and fair decision for the people they govern. There are no specific degrees that can get you into politics but education in Business and Law will be helpful during your political career.                                                                Each campus has organisations affiliated with political parties. Join any one of them and be an active part of campus politics

2) VOLUNTEER  IN  CAMPAIGNS   AND  GET  AN  INTERNSHIP

These are unpaid works but are invaluable in giving you the exposure and experience you require for future in politics.

3) COMMUNICATION  AND  PERSUATION

As a political communicator, you will represent a candidate, an organization, or a party at various events. Your public speaking and presentation skills must reflect those of a calm, knowledgeable and poised professional.

4) UP - TO - DATE  WITH  CURRENT  EVENTS

You must have a firm grip on current events. You should know what is going on locally, nationally and globally.

5) DEVELOP  A  LARGE  NETWORK

Politics is often about who you know, and you should know as many people as you can. The more people will know you the easier it will be to make connections and continue climbing the ladder.

Becoming a politician is far from being the only way into a career in politics. There are many opportunities related to politics like civil services, trade unions etc. What you will need is an interest in politics and (for work with a political party and for public affairs consultancy) some grassroots involvement in local or student politics.
