IPL CONTROVERSIES
When Indians hear about T-20 cricket, the first thing that comes into their mind is IPL. In our country, Indian Premiere League (IPL) is not just a game; it’s celebrated as a festival. People like the game, the teams, the players and most importantly the cheerleaders. But it’s very sad that with every season of IPL, the controversies increase.
1) The famous “Slapping” Event (2008) :
Remember, Harbhajan Slapping SreeSanth after a match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians.
2) Clash Of the titans (2008) :
During a match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, the two angry men of the cricket world, Shane Warne (RR) and Saurav Ganguly (KKR) exchanged some heated words.
3) Racial Discrimination (2008) :
One of the two “Black’ cheerleaders from London who came to India for IPL was not given the opportunity to perform because of the colour of her skin. It’s saddening that racism still exists in our Blood.
4) Throw “Bro” Throw (2008) :
When the captain of Delhi Daredevils, Virender Sehwag came out to bat, somebody pelted stones on the DD captain.
5) Sorry Lalit Modi (2010) :
Lalit Modi was found guilty of fraud, so he was sacked by the BCCI.
6) ‘Sir Jadeja’ Banned (2010):
He was caught ‘Out of Contract’ with the deadline for the final squad lists.
7) Modi vs Hirwani (2010) :
Modi tells Hirwani(Selector) to leave the VIP lounge during an IPL match.
8) Tax Raid (2010):
Money Money Money!
9) Shiv Sena ‘Rocks’ (2010) :
Bal Thackeray threatened IPL teams for involving Australian players into the contest.
10) No ‘Pak Pak’ Allowed (2010) :
Pakistani Players ruled out of the IPL.
11) Bye Bye Kochi (2011):
Kochi tuskers Kerala were thrown out of IPL for breaching its terms of agreement.
12) No ‘DADA’GIRI in KKR (2011) :
Sourav Ganguly was dumped by SRK.
13) Why LUKE Why? (2012) :
RCB’s player Luke Pomersbach was arrested for allegedly molesting US Woman.
14) SRK’s DADAGIRI (2012):
SRK was banned from Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for misbehaving with a security guard on duty.
15) Shane Warne vs. Sanjay Dixit (2012) :
Shane Warne was fined for calling an IAS officer a liar and an egoistic person.
16) Rave Party (2012) :
Wayne Parnell and Rahul Sharma of Pune Warriors India were caught in a rave party and were arrested.
17) Bye Bye Deccan (2012):
The winners of IPL Season2 Deccan Chargers were removed from IPL for breaching the terms. This gave birth to ‘Sunrisers Hyderabad’.
18) Cheerleader Controversy (2012):
Cheerleader confessed that how bad they were treated and taken care off.
19) Angry Adam (2012):
Adam Gilchrist Broke the dressing room door after he got out for just 6 runs.
20) Marlon Samuels Chucking (2012):
The bowler was accused of chucking and was reported for such bowling action.
21) Spot Fixing (2013):
The biggest controversy in the IPL history. Many players like Ajit Chandila, Sreesanth and others were found guilty and were arrested.
22) Pollard vs. Starc (2014):
These two world class cricketers were heavily fined for having a furious brawl on field.
23) Narine Banned (2014):
His bowling action was suspected and he was banned for the season but later on he cleared the test.
24) Sri Lankan Cricketers banned in Chennai (2015) :
Angelo Mathews was not allowed to compete in a match against CSK in Chennai.
25) Bye Bye CSK and RR (2015) :
CSK and RR suspended from IPL for 2 years for illegal betting and match fixing probe.
