TEKKEN  vs  STREET FIGHTER

Although , resembling the genre, both the epics: Street Fighter and Tekken are ages apart, not only when we talk about the premier instalment but also the fighting styles and gaming engine that gives life to the very base of both the legends. The games are running on unreal engine 4 yet they show signs of graphical enhancements that are classes apart and at the same time, it complements the gameplay mechanics in their own way.

Tekken (Japanese: 鉄拳, "Iron Fist"), a fighting game created by NAMCO (later Bandai Namco Entertainment) in 1994, was a massive hit. The premise of each game in the main series documents the events of the King of Iron Fist Tournament, hosted by the Mishima Zaibatsu Corporation. The prize is typically control of the company, which then allows the winner to host the following tournament. After beating the game with each character, an ending cutscene is unlocked and usually one of the endings from each game becomes the continuation of the story into the following instalment. The story has largely revolved around the Mishima clan curse.

Players can choose from a diverse cast that hails from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and fighting styles. A few characters have supernatural origin, such as Devil, Angel, Mokujin and Ogre, while animal characters like Kuma, Panda, the Roger family, and Alex provide comic.[39] In the story mode of the game, each character generally has their own personal reasons for entering the tournament and competing for the prize.

Characters with background connections in the story typically have styles or moves in common. For example, the three playable generations of the "orthodox" Mishima family (Heihachi, Kazuya, and Jin) have handed down many family techniques, such as their signature "crouch-dash" and the moves.

All major instalments of the series are originally arcade games, and the hardware used to run them traditionally has PlayStation-based hardware

The game received many sequels in order to the latest one, i.e. TEKKEN 7

Tekken 7 (鉄拳) is a 2015 fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the ninth instalment in theTekken fighting game series. The game is the first in the series to make use of the Unreal game engine. Tekken 7 had a limited arcade release in Japan on February 18, 2015, followed by a wide release on March 18, 2015.

GAMEPLAY

Tekken 7 focuses on 1-on-1 battles. Two new mechanics are introduced in the game. The first, Rage Art, allows the player to execute several unblockable moves that deal roughly 30% damage on the character (the location test had several characters dealing up to 80% damage, but were changed in the release version after feedback) once their health bar is critical, in exchange for inactivating the normal attack power increase. The second, Power Crush, lets the player continue their attacks even while being hit by the enemy, although they would still receive the damage dealt by the enemy's attacks. The mechanic also works only for absorbing high or mid attacks. The bound system, which staggers a character to increase opportunity for additional hits, is replaced by Screw Attack, which makes the enemy spin sideways when they are hit airborne, allowing the player to inflict additional hits after they reach the ground. Unlike bound, however, Screw Attack cannot be used to do wall combos. Thanks to a new display system, the game's multiplayer allows players to choose which side of the screen to play on. Movement has undergone some changes and now is similar to the movement mechanics found in Tekken Revolution, most notably when characters walk backwards.

PLOT

The game will serve as the conclusion of the Mishima clan saga. It will provide answers regarding the feud between Heihachi Mishima, his son, Kazuya Mishima and his grandson, Jin Kazama, including the origins of Devil Gene among other Tekken mysteries. A trailer released in July 2014 introduced the backstory regarding Heihachi's wife, Kazumi Mishima, who was killed by him years prior to the events of the earlier games.

The game has 27 playable characters, 20 of whom make up the default cast on launch; other characters are added overtime, though the flow is currently put on hold after Kazumi's release. Eight make their debut in this game. The new characters are as follows:

  • Katarina Alves : A sassy Brazilian woman who practices the art of Savate. She was designed to be a beginner-friendly character.

  • Claudio Serafino : A white-clad man from Italy whose right hand can conjure mysterious light powers of exorcism.

  • Lucky Chloe : An otaku who wears a kitten-themed costume and has a "Freestyle Dance" fighting style. Though speaking Japanese, her blonde hair and blue eyes instead suggests a European ancestry.

  • Shaheen : A keffiyah-wearing Saudi Arabian man who handles a "Military Self-defense" fighting style. He was also designed to be a beginner-friendly character.

  • Josie Rizala : A young Filipino woman who wears a yellow top, a blue miniskirt, and a red bow. She practices Eskrima and Kickboxing. She was first discovered in a leaked arcade data before being officially revealed during a Tekken 7 broadcast in Niconico on March 29, 2015.

  • Gigas : A hulking, red-skinned humanoid who seems to have cybernetics attached to his otherwise nude body. He practices "Destructive Impulse". Like Josie, he was first discovered in a leaked arcade data before his official reveal in a CAPCOM TV Chokaigi stream in Niconico.

  • Jack-7 : A new model of the Jack series, he has a slightly modified design with red hair and green colour scheme for his arms.

  • Kazumi Mishima : Heihachi's wife and Kazuya's mother, who possesses the Devil Gene. Kazumi's fighting style is Hachijo Style Karate, which is similar to the Mishima Style Fighting Karate as used by her husband and son with additional abilities including summoning tiger and levitating. She originally served as the game's unplayable final boss prior to becoming the seventh time release character added after launch. Kazumi also has a devil form which is currently unplayable outside of the final stage in which she is fought.

Continuing the trend from Tekken Tag Tournament 2, in addition to Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean, several characters now speak with their native languages, including the new characters mentioned above; thus Leo and Lili now speak German and French, respectively, for the first time in a canonical sequel, while newcomers Claudio, Katarina, and Shaheen speak with their native Italian, Portuguese, and Arabic respectively. This still does not include certain characters with differing nationalities, such as Xiaoyu, Alisa and Lars, who continue to speak Japanese due to their character backgrounds.

GAMEPLAY

Street Fighter V carries on the side-scrolling fighting gameplay of its predecessors, in which two fighters use a variety of attacks and special abilities to knock out their opponent. The game features the EX gauge introduced in Street Fighter III, which builds as the player lands attacks and can be used to either power up special moves or perform super combos known as Critical Arts, although the Focus Attacks of the last game have been removed. New to this game is the "V-Gauge", which builds as the player receives attacks and adds three new techniques; V-Skills, V-Reversals, and V-Triggers. V-Skills are special attacks unique to each fighter; for example, Ryu can parry an attack while M. Bison can reflect projectiles, some of which build V-Gauge when successfully performed. V-Reversals allow players to use a section of the V-Gauge to perform a counter move whilst being attacked. Finally, V-Triggers use the entire V-Gauge to allow the player to perform a unique ability, such as a temporary damage boost for Ryu or added hits to Chun-Li's attacks. Additionally, the game features a Stun Gauge which increases when receiving consecutive attacks and will cause the player to become stunned if filled, encouraging players to play defensively. The game also features interactive arenas, showcasing special animations when a player is defeated in a certain part of the arena.
