Dhirubhai Hirachand Ambani, better known as Dhirubhai Ambani, was an Indian business tycoon who founded Reliance Industries.

Fiery instinct, futuristic outlook, indomitable will and a burning passion was all that he had when he set out to work his way for a living in the lanes of Bombay, way back in 1958.

By 1972, Reliance became huge and thriving but of course not devoid of controversies.

In 1982, Reliance Industries came up against a rights issue regarding partly convertible debentures. It was rumoured that the company was making all efforts to ensure that their stock prices did not slide an inch. To find a solution, the Bombay Stock Exchange was closed for three days. In the end, Reliance earned a healthy profit out of this adventure.

Pranab Mukherjee, the then Finance Minister, provided an answer to this fiasco and the spurt in Reliance's earnings. He informed that a NRI had invested up to Rs. 220 millions in Reliance during 1982-83. An investigation by the RBI did not find any unethical acts or transactions committed by Reliance or its promoters.

"Our dreams need to be bigger, our ambitions higher, our commitments deeper and our efforts greater. That's my dream for Reliance and for India." These were his words, among many other quotes, which portray his mindset and inspire a lot of people who wish to make it big in life.

In conclusion, he was a man with an overarching ambition and inexhaustible energy. It

was through his zeal, bonhomie and invincible spirit of conquering the universe that he

transformed his men from clay into steel and helped them attain the pinnacle of success.
