ICE - CREAM DAY !
History
Natural Ice Cream day is celebrated every each year on 3rd Sunday of July, and this month is known for National Ice Cream Month. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month and National Ice Cream Day. The celebrations were originated by Joint resolution 298, which was sponsored by Senator Walter Dee Huddleston of Kentucky on May 17, 1984. Even though the resolution only mentioned a specific month and day in 1984, the celebrations have held up in the years since, publicised by ice cream manufacturers.
Ben Franklin, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were known to be regular ice cream eaters.
First Lady, Dolley Madison served ice cream at the Inaugural Ball in 1813.
1832 – African American confectioner, Augustus Jackson created multiple ice cream recipes as well as a superior technique to manufacture ice cream.
1843 – Philadelphian, Nancy Johnson, was issued the first U.S. patent for a small-scale hand-cranked ice cream freezer.
In the sixteenth century, the Mughal emperors used relays of horsemen to bring ice from the Hindu Kush to Delhi, where it was used in fruit sorbets.
Ice cream recipes first appeared in 18th-century England. The recipe for ice cream was published in Mrs. Mary Eales's Receipts in London in 1718.
Benefits of Ice Cream
O yes! You read it right. Ice cream can have benefits too. There is no denying that ice cream is a bowl full of calories but what if we say it do have benefits too.
As its main ingredients are cream, milk, sugar and flavouring.
1. It is a great source of vitamins and nutrients
Vitamin A, B, C, D and E are present in every scoop of ice cream. Thiamine and Niacin are much needed by the body. Did you know that ice cream can save you from blood clotting too? The vitamin K in ice cream can save you from that!
2. Endurance food for better experience in bed
You heard it right. It has high levels of calcium and phosphorus, two minerals that build your muscles' energy reserves and boost your libido. Can also make your orgasms more powerful, since the muscles that control ejaculation need calcium in order to spasm and contract properly, says Sarah Brewer, M.B., author of Increase Your Sex Drive. Just choose vanilla over chocolate or any other flavour. As a study conducted at Chicago's Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation found that when men smell the scent of vanilla, it relaxes them, reducing anxiety and inhibitions.
3. Ice cream provides you with a lot of energy
Because of its high nutritional value, not to mention the good protein and the carbohydrates that it contains; milk is essential to get the energy that you need. With all its goodness, ice cream should indeed be a daily treat.
4. It may help fight infertility
Here’s a reason women may want to indulge in ice cream: A Harvard study published in the journal Human Reproduction suggests that consuming full-fat milk or ice cream may improve your chances of having a baby. The study looked at the eating habits of more than 18,000 women between the age group of 24 and 42. Women who ate full-fat ice cream two or more times a week had a 38% lower risk of ovulation-related infertility than women who had full-fat ice cream less than once a week.
5. Reduces risk of cancer
The calcium content in ice cream also helps in reducing the chances of colon cancer. Apart from being a catalyst to building stronger bones, this particular benefit of calcium makes ice cream all the more beneficial.
6. It makes you smile.
Wonder why you feel so good every time you take a lick of ice cream? It’s not just because it tastes delicious. One study found that a spoonful of the cold stuff actually makes you happy. Researchers of the Institute of Psychiatry in London tracked the brain activity of people eating vanilla ice cream. As soon as the participants swallowed ice cream, they saw an immediate effect on an area of the brain called the orbit of rental cortex, a pleasure centre that activates when people enjoy themselves.
In spite of all the benefits that ice cream has, there is no reason to over indulge in it because it also has a large number of disadvantages which are harmful for your health. So relish on ice creams, but in moderation.

Use a food processor instead of a blender for optimal results.
